Our United States military has 375,000 service men and women who are currently deployed around the world. I'm participating in the Big Thank You, which is a local effort here to have the city of Atlanta send 375,000 hand written thank you letters to our deployed troops in time for Thanksgiving. The goal is to have a letter in the hands of each and every person who will not be home for the holidays. As of Monday they had 300,000. They've extended the deadline to this Friday. I've written 3 and will write more tomorrow. My company is collecting them and will hand deliver them to the drop off location. :)

You can read more about this effort here:

We decided to run some errands today. The girls hadn't taken a nap yet so we knew they'd sleep in the car. Here's a picture of Elizabeth all strapped in, and wrapped up ready to sleep.

She likes to have a pillow and blanket to sleep with, and that's her triceratops that she likes to place on top of her head whils she sleeps in the car.

TGIF!
I worked late Friday. I didn't get home until almost 9:00 pm. :sigh: This is what greeted me when I walked down to the basement.

She was in the bathroom making a big mess. I have no idea what they were doing, but it involved water and a lot of giggles. Shutterfly cut it off, but if you look closely, she's got both of her legs through one leg hole of the shorts. LOL!
Elizabeth brings home a folder from school each Friday. It has a note from the teacher along with any art work or school work she's done through the week. We go through it at the dinner table. This is a picture of Elizabeth showing us her macaroni art. Pre-K class is not complete with out the obligatory macaroni art project every now and then. :)

Here I am modeling the fancy spider hat she made to go along with the Little Miss Muffet nursery rhyme they read in school.

And here's a picture of Charles being a good sport while I take pictures of us eating dinner at 9:00 pm.

If there's one redeeming quality about where I work, is that it's in a beautiful park. I can look out at any time during the day and see all sorts of things. Dogs playing fetch with their owners, various joggers, ducks, you name it. It's also common to see photographers taking photos. This is what I saw Monday when I looked out my window. In the close up, you can see the little boy sitting on the ground. There was quite a breeze that day. He was

My kids are naked. It must be the weekend. I can't keep clothes on either of them to save my life. Even during the week, I'd say on average 3 out of 5 morning, Caroline will remove her pants, socks, and/or shoes before I can get her out the door. Some days we just bring Caroline in and hand the teacher her socks and shoes separately. LOL!
Anyway, here's a pic of my littlest nudie.

20/365 - The Pumpkin Patch
Of all the things we do each year, this is one of my favorite. I look forward to it each year and this year was no different. The weather was perfect. We had lunch at the Right Wing Tavern and just had a really great day as a family. It's days like these that I cherish and I'm glad I have pictures to remind me of the great times we have.

Monday, October 15th is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day. In honor of my baby whom I conceived at only 3 months PP, and lost at 6 weeks gestation due to an ectopic rupture, I am posting a picture of me the day my baby was conceived, which ironically, is 4 years ago this Wednesday. I was happy, up beat, back into normal fitting clothes, life was good. Here I am holding LauraMA's little girl, Clara. This was such a fun day.

I didn't take any pictures today. But I did take this picture a few days ago during one night when I worked late. We have two buildings in our city called the King and the Queen. They have pink lights on the Queen this month in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. I tried two different nights to get a better shot, but in an effort to not get into a car accident - this is the best I'm going to get. I think it's pretty cool.

Today was the first day I dressed the girls in their fall clothes. We're in the middle of one of the worst droughts in years and the weather has been so freaking hot. C was being super cute this morning so I snapped this before I left. Every time she sees a camera she says "GEEEE!" Makes me laugh every time.

The quintessential working mom. Late to work because I was stuck in traffic. I had a Disaster Recovery drill conference call scheduled for 9:00am. I was running a few minutes late. I CAN NOT BE LATE to this. So - I pulled over, put my cell phone on speaker, powered up my PC and sat in my minivan in the parking lot for 2 hrs while documenting the results of the test. About an hour into it I decided to put my camera on a timer and put it up on the dashboard. I like how it has the empty car seat in the background (and even the jogging stroller handlebar in the very back). I'm really unhappy with my job situation lately. I like how this picture captures the conflict of being a working mom. :sigh:

10/365 -
Just another exciting day at my office. I was late to work, crammed for a deadline, didn't leave until 8:00pm, and had to have a woman in her 70's jump my car for me because my battery was dead. Didn't get home till 9:00. Just in time for C to fall asleep in my arms as I sat and ate my dinner. Good times.

Tuesday is Family Night at Chick-Fil-A. Kids eat for $.99 cents. They have a balloon lady there and free ice cream. I've been taking the girls every Tuesday for about 6 weeks now. Last week I had to work late, so Charles took them. When he saw what a complete mad house it is, he decided it was best that we go as a family. LOL!. A bunch of Elizabeth's friends go each week. It's a great opportunity to A, not cook!, and B, socialize with other parents. Depending on what time we get there we'll run into different folks each week. Sometimes it's just moms, tonight it was moms and dads. Elizabeth has a great group of friends with really nice parents. We're all planning to get together for a cookout at her friend Madison's house soon. When we got home our neighbor was outside so we quickly asked her to snap a quick shot of us. And look, even Charles got in on the balloon fun tonight. :) Not the best quality picture, but it captures the moment. The four of us enjoying some time as a family.

We have a new visitor at our home. It's a Black-and-Yellow Argiope, also known as a garden spider. I had never seen one of these until a few weeks ago when I saw one at my parent's house. They're huge. They spin amazing webs and catch larger insects like grasshoppers, and even cicadas.
While searching for information on this spider I ran across this amazing photo. In this photo, the spider caught a cicada. You can see two other (smaller) spiders waiting on the side lines. Crazy!

This is me on any typical night... Caroline is 21 months old and is my BFing champ. I've been ready for her to wean for months now, but she is showing no signs of being ready herself. ETA: My shirt is wet from picking Elizabeth up out of the bathtub in case anyone was wondering.
and this is what was at the foot of my bed. Elizabeth after just getting out of the bath.
